Proximity policy
in return for the surveillance of railway rights-of-way that they provide, the vigilance committees set up within village communities spread over the entire network between Kumba and Ngaoundéré are supported by the company.
Each year, this proximity policy has an impact on around 250,000 people and mobilizes an investment of 400 million F CFA.
CAMRAIL is also involved in the construction of 36 wells and boreholes in areas without access to Camwater's public network. For example, the 2017 project in Eséka provided access to drinking water for over 15,000 people. CAMRAIL employees (and those of Africa Global Logistics present in Cameroon) mobilized to build a borehole, which not only meets the needs of the Eséka District Hospital, but also supplies the local population.
CAMRAIL pays particular attention to improving the living conditions of local communities: vaccination campaigns, epidemic screening and prevention, construction or renovation of health and education infrastructures, support for job placement centers, donations of teaching materials, health equipment, basic supplies, support for sporting and socio-cultural activities, etc.
Since 1999, CAMRAIL has entrusted the weeding of the track to the populations of the 163 villages crossed by the rail. This policy provides additional remuneration to village communities along the rail line for weeding, occasional felling of trees along the track and engineering structures, maintenance of tracks and shroud enclosures, and maintenance of intermediate stations.
Environmental impact
CAMRAIL is developing a unique approach to environmental protection through the implementation of a proximity policy with residents, which enables us to subcontract up to 400 million Fcfa each year for weed control, cleaning and cleaning of engineering structures; track surveillance...
Rail-road transport
Thanks to the combination of rail and road transport, CAMRAIL provides end-to-end transport of consumer goods between the southern and northern parts of the country. This enables Cameroon on the one hand, and the other countries of the sub-region, notably Chad, CAR, Congo... on the other, to cope with inflation due to the Covid-19 crisis.
