COMPANY

CAMRAIL has set up an automated fuel and lubricant consumption management system designed to secure refuelling operations, by ensuring that the quantities counted at the volumeter are in line with the quantities actually received in the tank. This project also makes it possible to reduce consumption and costs, and to obtain relevant information to facilitate the analyses required for proper maintenance of the machines.
Thanks to their new electronic injection engine, the new General Electric locomotives recently acquired by recently acquired by CAMRAIL, have reduced diesel consumption. Their asynchronous traction motor adapts power.

CAMRAIL Since 2005, CAMRAIL has been involved in a partnership with the Ministry of Forests and Wildlife to protect wildlife and eradicate the transport of wildlife products by rail

In collaboration with the government and the NGO Carfad, CAMRAIL is committed to

  • Allow and facilitate wildlife control missions on board trains, in stations and rights-of-way;
  • Authorize the inspection of timber products at departure and arrival stations, and before they are loaded onto trains
  • Provide the Ministry of Forests and Fauna, within the limits of its possibilities, with essential logistical resources to facilitate control missions

Every year, CAMRAIL organizes awareness-raising sessions and checks on parcels and luggage on board trains, with a high level of involvement from communities living along the rail line

CAMRAIL CAMRAIL has taken steps to limit the environmental impact of transporting hydrocarbons on its network: a protocol has been signed between the company and HYDRAC for the physic-chemical analysis of discharge water and soil polluted with hydrocarbons. It has acquired equipment to respond to accidental hydrocarbon spills on the railroad (15 ANTIPOLLUTION KITs, 04 motor-driven pumps with a flow rate of 21m3 /h, 04 tank tarpaulins with a capacity of 60m3 each). CAMRAIL has decantation tanks at the Douala central workshops and depollution equipment in 4 depots for waste collection and treatment

The company has therefore embarked on a program to replace and manage the creosote-soaked sleepers inherited from Regifercam. The company has set up an action plan for the recovery and storage of creosote-soaked sleepers CAMRAIL has built a paved, secure storage area for used creosote-treated wooden sleepers at the Ateliers Centraux de Bassa. It collects and transports used creosote-coated wooden sleepers stored along the railroad line

In addition, the company has sensitized its employees and subcontractors to the handling and prohibited use of creosote-treated wooden sleepers for domestic purposes. It has held joint CAMRAIL - MINADER - MINEPDED meetings on the problem of destroying used creosote-treated wooden sleepers, and has organized working sessions with track foremen, the RIF and the HSE officer of the Central Coordination on the problem of used creosote-treated wooden sleepers

 CAMRAIL CAMRAIL is also training 113 people in various regions on how to intervene on hydrocarbon trains in the event of a fire or hydrocarbon spill, and how to use anti-pollution KITs. We are also building and putting into service 08 watchtower wagons to monitor hydrocarbon trains on the road.
