INVESTMENTS / ENGINE EQUIPMENT
CAMRAIL has an inventory of 39 locomotives. Since the start of operations, we have acquired 14-line haulers and 5 railcars.
Line haulage equipment
These are 6 CC 2600 locomotives acquired in 2002 during the first years of the concession. Equipped with MD GM "EMD 645" engines built in South Africa, they deliver 2,600 hp..
They also include :
- 5 ALSTOM railcar modules introduced in 2003, fully overhauled;
- 2 CC 3300 NREC locomotives, delivered in 2010, offering 3,300 hp;
- 6 CC 2500 NREC locomotives delivered in 2013, offering 2,500 horsepower;
- A single Grindrod locomotive;
- 9 General Electric CC 3300 locomotives, 4 of which were ordered by the French government for passenger service, manufactured in the USA and delivered in January 2019, offering 3,300 horsepower.
Shunting equipment
12 locomotives, 10 of which are in service. They operate 4 passenger shuttle trains linking respectively:
- Ngaoundéré to Bélabo,
- Yaoundé to Douala
- Kumba to Mbanga.
In addition, these shunting locomotives are used for train-forming operations at:
- Bessengue (1),
- Port of Douala (2),
- Bélabo (1)
- Ngaoundéré (1).
INVESTMENTS/ TRAILER EQUIPMENT
Railcar fleet in operation
CAMRAIL operates its own fleet of 1,393 wagons , including 140 private wagons.
Since the start of the concession, CAMRAIL has taken delivery of :
- 50 flat wagons built in China by CSR, capable of carrying 50 tonnes;
- 25 tank wagons built in India by TEXMACO, leased by SCDP from an operator;
Fleet in operation
CAMRAIL operates a fleet of 104 cars (Soulé and Dietrich). The Soulé and Dietrich cars were mostly acquired by the REGIFERCAM network.
- The 40 CSR cars put into operation in 2014 (including 1stclass cars with 64 seats and 2ndclass cars with 88 seats) were withdrawn from operation at the beginning of 2017.
- 11 passenger cars for the Express Train have been fitted out in CAMRAIL's central workshops.
