Since CAMRAIL took over rail operations, passenger performance has improved. For a long time, passenger transport agreements offered 3 services, each served by 2 or 3 trains. Transport supply measured in terms of available seats increased between 2012 and 2015 (+500,000 seats); on the other hand, it has fallen sharply since 2016 (-1,100,000 seats), due to the withdrawal of CSR cars.

In 2021, CAMRAIL has relaunched the new express train between the cities of Douala and Yaoundé.

To make the wait more pleasant, stores have been set up, giving passengers access to a wide range of products, including newspapers.

Thanks to Wi-Fi, passengers can connect to the Internet free of charge in the main stations (Douala, Yaoundé, Ngaoundéré). This service will be extended to the entire network.

The sleeper train features a bar-restaurant where passengers can enjoy refreshments and quality dishes from a varied menu. Orders are also served on the spot by qualified hostesses. This service is provided by a CAMRAIL partner of proven professionalism. The bar-restaurant car is equipped with an audiovisual entertainment system for your relaxation during meals and throughout the journey

Between Douala and Yaoundé, a short-distance service (264 km) with 8 daily trains.

Express Train 185 - 186

Douala - Yaounde

The Express Train is made up of 11 cars, including a bar-restaurant, 04 first-class cars, 04 second-class cars, 1 generator van, 1 van dedicated to parcels and luggage. The transport plan for this express train provides for two daily trips from Douala and Yaoundé. With a journey time of 4h45, this new service serves the towns of Edéa, Messondo, Eseka, Makak and Ngoumou, in addition to Douala and Yaoundé.

Train 181 - 184

Mainly semi-direct trains

The Train Express originally operated 1 service per day in each direction, leaving Douala and Yaoundé in the late afternoon (5 p.m.). It currently runs 5 days a week as a Train Express; on the other 2 days, it operates as an omnibus. It originally offered 240 seats per service, with a conventional train comprising 1 first-class car, 2 second-class cars and 1 collector van. It now operates with 2 second-class cars (176 seats) and 1 collector van. When they operate as semi-directs, they respect 16 stops, 5 times a week; when they operate as omnibuses, they respect 42 stops, 2 times a week. In the first case, they link the 2 towns in 8 hours, and in the second case, they do so in 12/13 hours.

Integral omnibus (OM 103 - 104)

Linking the 2 cities in 12 hours, it originally operated 1 service per day in each direction, leaving Douala and Yaoundé at the start of the day (8:30 a.m.) and arriving at its destination at 8:30 p.m. Since 2016, its services have been combined with those of the express. Omnibus trains 103-104 currently run 2 days a week. They offer 176 seats per service, with the trainset comprising 2 passenger carriages and 1 collection van for transporting parcels and baggage. These omnibus trains currently depart at 7.30 a.m. and arrive at the end of the day. They serve all stations and stops on the Douala - Yaoundé section (42 stops). The main function of these trains is to serve landlocked rural areas, enabling them to transport the food products they produce to Douala and/or Yaoundé. At present, the omnibus train offers an average of 176 seats with 2 second-class carriages.

CAMRAIL operates a long-distance service between Yaoundé and Ngaoundéré (620 km) with 4 trains.

Semi-direct train 191-192

Yaoundé - Ngaoundéré

Called the sleeper train, it runs between Yaoundé and Ngaoundéré every day, in both directions. It is scheduled to leave Yaoundé and Ngaoundéré, respectively, at the end of the day (7.50 pm / 7.15 pm), arriving at its destination in the early morning of the following day (8 / 9 am). These trains are semi-direct and serve 17 stations. Trains 191-192 have long offered 951 to 983 seats per service, with 2 first-class cars, 8 second-class cars, 1 sleeper car with 2-bed compartments and 3 to 4 sleepers with 4-bed compartments, a bar-restaurant car and 1 generator van and 1 luggage van. The need to remove CSR cars from service led to a halving of the number of seats offered in 2017, with one trainset offering 429 seats and the other 438.

Train omnibus OM 112 - 113

Bélabo et Ngaoundéré

The omnibus provides 2 services a week in each direction. It serves all stations and stops on the Bélabo - Ngaoundéré section (21 stops). For a long time, it offered 264 seats per service, with a train made up of 3 passenger cars and 2 collection vans carrying food products.

It is served over some 30 km by two omnibus trains: Omnibus between Douala - Mbanga: Train 162-165 and Omnibus between Mbanga - Kumba (30 km).

Douala - Mbanga

It originally ran two services a week over 70 km with an 88-seat2nd-class car. The Douala - Mbanga Omnibus reduced its frequencies to 2 trains a month to meet the maintenance needs of the Mbanga - Kumba Omnibus.

Omnibus

Mbanga - Kumba

It provides 3 services per day and per direction, i.e. 6 daily shuttles. It offers 176 seats per service with 22nd-class 88-seater cars and 1 collector van. In 2018, at the request of the authorities, CAMRAIL suspended services on the Mbanga -Kumba route due to the political and social tensions in this part of the country.
